Scenario I - Interview
[Entering the room] Shrinidhi: Hello, Mr. Guruswinder. How are you all!
Boss: Hello, Ms. Shrinidhi. I am well, thank you - please take a seat. How are you doing today? I hope you did not have any trouble getting to the right location.
[Sitting down] Shrinidhi: I am doing great, thank you so much! Getting here was quite easy for me - the instructions sent by the HR were very helpful.
Boss: I am glad to hear that. Well, let us get started then. Would you like to tell me about yourself?
Shrinidhi: Sure. I graduated last year with a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Wellesley College, where I took the specific field of human rights and international law quite quickly, and then pursued a research internship at the International Justice Organization.
Since graduation, I have been working as a fellow at ThinkAsia, a human rights organization based out of Singapore. I have been looking to get involved in international law for a long time now after my fellowship is done in four months, which is why I am looking to find work in a legal firm such as yours.
Boss: Great. We are a legal firm - quite different from the NGOs and human rights organizations you have worked with. That is why our firm? What about our firm interests you?
Shrinidhi: I am interested in the legal work you do for conflict-ridden areas in the Asia-Pacific, especially South Asia. Although I have a human rights background, I want to gain a firm grounding in the legal aspects of human rights, which I hope to do at your organization.
