What is a CAT PYQ, and what does Prasnya hold?

CAT PYQs are the questions from previous Common Admission Test papers, released by the IIMs after each exam. Prasnya holds 808 of them, drawn from 10 slot papers across 2017, 2018, 2024, 2025, covering all three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. What separates a question bank from a folder of PDFs is the mapping: every question here is attached to the syllabus node it belongs to — 43 topics and 126 subtopics — so a single topic such as remainders or parajumbles can be practised on its own. Any slice of that, from one subtopic to a full slot paper, can also be taken as a timed mock under the real marking scheme, after which the analysis reports accuracy, time per question and the specific topics that lost marks.

All three sections, filed to the topic

  • VARC — Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension

    Reading Comprehension · Verbal Ability

  • DILR — Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning

Data Interpretation · Basic Logical Reasoning · Advanced / Hybrid DILR

  • QA — Quantitative Aptitude

Arithmetic · Algebra · Geometry & Mensuration · Number System · Modern Math

Which CAT papers are published

2025 (3 slots), 2024 (3 slots), 2018 (2 slots), 2017 (2 slots). Every slot can be solved question by question or taken end to end as a timed mock.

Questions people ask

Which CAT papers does Prasnya have?
2025 (3 slots), 2024 (3 slots), 2018 (2 slots), 2017 (2 slots). That is 10 slot papers in total, 808 questions, each mapped to its section, chapter and topic.
What is the difference between a CAT PYQ and a mock question?
A PYQ actually appeared in a released CAT paper. A mock question is written to resemble one. Everything on Prasnya is the former — transcribed from released papers, not authored in-house — which is why the difficulty distribution matches the real exam rather than a guess at it.
Can I practise CAT PYQs topic by topic?
Yes, and that is the point of the mapping. All 43 topics and 126 subtopics are separate routes, so you can work through, say, time-speed-distance across every year at once rather than meeting it four questions at a time inside four different papers.
Are solutions included?
Yes. Every question carries a worked explanation, and both CAT formats are supported — single-answer MCQs scored with negative marking, and TITA questions where you type the answer.
Is this useful for XAT, SNAP or NMAT?
Partly, and it is worth being precise. Prasnya publishes CAT papers only. The quantitative and verbal syllabus overlaps substantially with the other MBA entrance exams, so the topic-level practice transfers; the paper structure, timing and marking do not. If you need released XAT or SNAP papers specifically, this is not the place to get them.
Is Prasnya affiliated with the IIMs?
No. Prasnya is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IIMs or any examination body. The questions are transcribed from released CAT papers.
What does it cost?
Plans start at Rs 69/month, with Plus at Rs 129/month and Pro at Rs 149/month. Each is a one-time payment for one month — nothing auto-renews and no card is stored. New accounts get 2 days of full access first, without a card.
