How should you practise IITM BS Qualifier previous year questions?
Treat it as an admission test, not as coursework. The distinction
Qualifier or Quiz 1? They are not the same paper.
This is the single most common confusion for anyone new to the programme, and it costs people weeks of misdirected practice. The Qualifier is the entrance assessment: you sit it before you are enrolled, it covers four subjects, and passing it is what admits you to the foundation level. Quiz 1 is an in-term quiz you sit once you are already a student, across every subject you registered for that term.
They overlap because both draw on the opening weeks of the syllabus, and in the released catalog they share one paper set. But the scope differs: the Qualifier examines 4 subjects and Quiz 1 examines up to 8, which is why a Quiz 1 revision plan built from Qualifier practice leaves half the term untouched. If you are enrolled and preparing for the first in-term quiz, the Quiz 1 route is the one you want.
