IITM BS Quiz 1 PYQ

IITM BS Quiz 1 PYQs, filed to the weeks Quiz 1 actually examines.

Quiz 1 sits on roughly the first four weeks of every subject you registered for. Prasnya holds 1,600 released Quiz 1 questions across all 8 subjects, and because each one carries its week number, that band is a route you can open rather than a section you have to hunt for.

How do you prepare for IITM BS Quiz 1 using previous year questions?

Prepare by week, because Quiz 1 is defined by a week band rather than by a topic list. The first in-term quiz of an IIT Madras BS Data Science term examines roughly Weeks 1 to 4 of every subject you registered for, so the useful question is not "what came in Quiz 1 2024" but "what does Quiz 1 keep asking in Week 3 of Statistics 1". Prasnya holds 1,600 released Quiz 1 questions across all 8 foundation subjects, drawn from 14 slot papers spanning 2022 - 2026, and every question carries the week, topic and subtopic it came from — 50 distinct subject-week routes in total. Open one and you see every year's questions on that week together, which is where the repeated pattern becomes obvious. Each of those routes is also startable as a timed test on its own, so you can rehearse a week in fifteen minutes rather than sitting a full paper, and each submitted attempt returns a report naming the topics that cost you marks. The subjects

All 8 subjects, with what Quiz 1 has published in each

Quiz 1 is the only assessment in the programme whose released paper set covers every foundation subject, Programming in Python included. Counts are measured, not estimated.

  • Mathematics 1147 questions · 6 weeks
  • Mathematics 2169 questions · 5 weeks
  • English 1360 questions · 8 weeks
  • English 2320 questions · 9 weeks
  • Statistics 1151 questions · 4 weeks
  • Statistics 2165 questions · 4 weeks
  • Computational Thinking154 questions · 6 weeks
  • Programming in Python134 questions · 8 weeks

Each subject opens on its own question list, free to read at chapter level. Weeks, topics and subtopics are routes inside it.

The week band

Why the week number is the whole advantage

A released Quiz 1 paper is a snapshot of one term's four weeks. On its own it tells you what was asked once. What you actually want to know is what gets asked every time — and that only becomes visible when you can stack the same week from every year side by side.

That is what the week number buys you. Every one of the 1,600 Quiz 1 questions here carries the week of the course it came from, so "Week 2 of Mathematics 1" is a route holding every published Week 2 question at once rather than a section you have to find four times in four PDFs. There are 50 such routes across the Quiz 1 paper set, and each one is also a timed test you can sit on its own.

It is worth knowing that the published material is not spread evenly. The released papers cluster heavily on the opening weeks, which is exactly where Quiz 1 sits — so for this assessment the bank is at its deepest precisely where you need it.

The weeks

Weeks 1 to 4, where Quiz 1 lives

The band Quiz 1 examines, with the total published questions filed to each week across every subject. Each row opens the subject holding the most of them.

  • Week 1 · English 2465 questions · 8 subjects
  • Week 2 · English 1496 questions · 8 subjects
  • Week 3 · English 1344 questions · 8 subjects
  • Week 4 · Mathematics 2307 questions · 7 subjects

Question counts are field-wide for that week; the link opens the subject with the deepest coverage of it. Every other subject's week list is on its own subject page.

The route

From Quiz 1 to a single subtopic in five steps

The same route every time, whichever of the eight subjects is the one costing you marks.

  1. 1

    Open the paper set

Every released Quiz 1 question, already sorted — not a folder of PDFs to scan.

  2. 2

    Pick the subject

Any of the 8 foundation subjects — Quiz 1's paper set is the only one covering all of them.

  3. 3

    Narrow to the week

Weeks 1 to 12, exactly as the course runs them, so practice lines up with the lecture you just watched.

  4. 4

    Narrow to the topic

Then the subtopic if the leak is that specific. 660 of them are individually addressable.

  5. 5

Solve, or sit it as a mock

Practise one at a time with the solution a tap away, or start the same set against a clock and read the report.

The questions

Questions students ask

How many IITM BS Quiz 1 previous year questions are on Prasnya?
1,600 released Quiz 1 questions across all 8 foundation subjects, drawn from 14 slot papers spanning 2022 - 2026 and filed into 50 distinct subject-week routes.
Which weeks does IITM BS Quiz 1 cover?
Typically Weeks 1 to 4 of each registered subject, though the exact cut varies by term and by subject. Because every question on Prasnya carries its week number, you can practise any week band directly rather than relying on the split being the same as last term.
Can I practise IITM BS Quiz 1 questions one subject at a time?
Yes. Each of the 8 subjects is its own route, and inside it each week, topic and subtopic is a route too. Any of those levels can also be started as a timed test rather than only practised question by question.
Is Programming in Python included in the Quiz 1 previous year questions?
Yes — 134 questions across 8 weeks. Quiz 1's paper set is the only one in the catalog that carries it; the released Quiz 2 papers do not.
Is Prasnya an official IIT Madras website?
No. Prasnya is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IIT Madras or any examination body. It takes officially released previous year questions and makes them practisable in a structured way.
What does it cost, and is there a free trial?
Every new account gets 1 day of full Pro-level access with no card required. After that, plans are one payment for one month of access — nothing recurring and no card stored. Go covers subject and week wise practice; Plus adds paper, subject, section and week mocks with basic analysis; Pro adds topic and subtopic mocks, unlimited starts, advanced analysis and question-by-question solution review.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Practice, timed mocks and analysis are all built mobile-first, and the mathematics is typeset with KaTeX rather than served as screenshots, so it stays legible and selectable on a small screen.
