What does CAT VARC test, and how is it organised here?

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension is CAT's first section: 24 questions in roughly 40 minutes, most of them attached to four or five reading passages, with the remainder as standalone Verbal Ability questions. Prasnya files every VARC question from its 10 released slot papers under two chapters — Reading Comprehension, organised by passage theme and question type, and Verbal Ability, organised by the four question types CAT actually uses: parajumbles, odd sentence out, paragraph summary and paragraph completion. Because a passage and its questions stay together, an RC set practised here reads exactly as it did in the paper. Any single question type can be taken as a timed mock, which is the fastest way to find out whether the problem is comprehension speed or a specific VA type.

What the section tests

24 questions in about 40 minutes. Reading Comprehension dominates the section; the Verbal Ability remainder is mostly parajumbles, odd sentence out, summary and completion — several of them TITA.

Questions people ask

Do RC passages stay attached to their questions?
Yes. Comprehension sets carry their passage, and are presented and scored as a set, so an RC set practised here behaves the way it did in the paper.
Can I practise parajumbles on their own?
Yes. Parajumbles, odd sentence out, paragraph summary and paragraph completion are each separate routes, and each can be taken as a timed mock. Several of these are TITA in recent papers, and they are scored that way here.
How are VARC weaknesses identified?
The attempt report separates accuracy from time, per question type. A student who is accurate but slow on RC and fast but wrong on parajumbles gets two different recommendations, which a single section score cannot give.
Is Prasnya affiliated with the IIMs?
No. Prasnya is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IIMs or any examination body. The questions are transcribed from released CAT papers.
What does it cost?
Plans start at Rs 69/month, with Plus at Rs 129/month and Pro at Rs 149/month. Each is a one-time payment for one month — nothing auto-renews and no card is stored. New accounts get 2 days of full access first, without a card.
